Final Hellgirls!

Here are the finals of the two Hellgirls drawings that I finished for the Chicago Wizard Con. The Hellgirl sketch book will only be sold there. So if you are heading to Wizard World Chicago in late June, go to the Afterburn tables or Blueline tables/booth and ask to buy a copy. I will be there Friday through Sunday if anybody would like me to sign their copy, plus other artists who have their work in the sketch book too! Unfortunately I do not think you can buy one without going to the con, but if you would like one, drop me an email; mtopoolski1@mac.com and I can see what I can do.

Until next time

HellGirl II... steps!

OK, so there is a con book coming out full of HellGirl pictures and mine are going to be in it too :) Yeah, so all the artist get to do two doodles for the con book, so here is my second drawing of HellGirl!

This is of course the first idea roughed out. You can see I took off her mask and pretty much everything else! I took the hairy boot idea from a friend over at the AfterBurn forum and the taken off the mask is actually what the creator did! I also was playing with the idea of black like make-up or something on her face!

This second image is a more final. I have removed her eye make-up and just add more detail for her wings or claws or whatever they are! I also added some detail to her boots and tried to clean up her hair or just to make sense of it! Giving more definition to the skull and just over all little detail of her body.

This last image is the final pencil drawing. Everything is clean and crisp, ready for inking. I would usually do the pencils a bit darker if I was not the one inking it, but since I am, I know what to look for.

That's it, well, I will post the inked version in the next day or two. Until then... peace

HellGirl... final!

Well, with all that's been happening, allergies, bachelor party and then Mother's Day I am kind of stoked at having this pic done so fast! So here is the final piece, yeah, its kind of chaotic with the background but that's what I wanted, with the whole "Hell" theme. So enjoy and stay tune for some more!

Until next time

HellGirl final pencils

So here is the final piece already to be inked... sometime! I tried to stay as true as possible to the original rough drawing. I sometimes tend to find things a bit off once I start this process, but this time not to much had to change. I fixed some anatomy issues that were bugging me, but for the average joe I don't think they would of noticed. The biggest change was the cleaning up of her eyes (the mask is something that I tried to keep true to the original design) and her lips. For some reason I draw lips always wide first, then once in final pencils I usually go back and refine them, more curve and detail, don't ask me why that is, I have no idea, maybe it was just something that happen a couple of times and now has become one of those corny habits an artist picks up!? The foreground is nothing to special, once inked it will be mostly black, with a bit of white here and there. As for the background black I wanted to do more of a electricity effect or something, to off balance her flaming hair.

Well, its almost midnight and need to find sometime to whine down and get to bed. So next will be the final inked piece!

Oh, forgot, this piece might be in a con fan art book for the Wizard World Chicago in late June. The guys over at Blue Line will be printing it, so hopefully it will make the cut!

Until next time
Peace

Evolution of a HellGirl

So here is a doodle of a character named HellGirl @Robert Wayne Hickey (He ask everyone who shows off the character to but the copyright info in.)

The first image is of a quick doodle of the idea. Since the character is from the early to mid 90's Mr. Hickey has given us artist permission to "update" her or to just change what we want. I never like the idea of update, who says what is in style? Anyhow, the second image is the actual pin-up idea. HellGirl standing all sexy and cool, surrounded with demons and such. The only problem I have with the image is HellGirl herself, not sure what it is? It just doesn't work. So I went back to the original pose and kicked this out in the last hour or so... Still needs lots of work, but the general idea is there and with a bit of sleepless nights I can get this pin-up done and my wolverine three page sampler! Lets hope :)

So look forward to the final piece soon, inked and all!

Peace
Mark
